Fine Art Photography | Toronto

So the season is beginning to slow down and I find myself "lost".

I realize just how much I love having a camera in my hands, I love having the ability to be in control of a situation. I love being able to compose beauty and frame what I define as art.  I love being able to just go with the flow and snap away wildly, but as the season slows down I have fewer chances to do this...Now I seek inspiration, because I realize I can't remain stagnant.  I need to go with the flow and find that which inspires me. . ."Every second is a door to eternity. The door is opened by perception. Inspiration is that state in which mind and heart are connected."The world to me is full of unexpected beauty, it can be seen in the rarest of places and all you have to do is OPEN YOUR EYES to see it.  Art is in the composition!   To me, this means you have to always be aware and open minded. See things from an open perspective and in a different light. If you can connect that which your mind recognizes to your heart, inspiration will arise.  So I invite you to open your minds and your hearts and search for the connection, you may be surprised at what you will find.

Photography to me is much more than attempting to create beauty, which can be extremely difficult.  It is about finding beauty, bringing out true emotions and feelings from your subjects  Shooting from the heart is what I try to do, I photograph that which I feel and find beautiful, while spreading my passion to the hearts of my subjects so that they can feel what I feel.  "My aim is not to capture any particular movement, but to express a sincere human feeling." - Vincent Van Gogh.  If I can achieve this through my subjects or through my viewers than I have succeeded.

Here are a few fine art photos that I took with my iphone...Like I said, beauty can be found all around us so thank God for technology for allowing me to be able to photograph my world.

Happy Wednesday!!!

Julian

Toronto Engagement Photography | Priscilla + Chris

As promised I am finishing this post...I also added more photos :) I simply couldn't resist.

Priscilla & Chris...Very interesting couple. Priscilla almost backed out of the shoot last minute due to uncertain weather conditions...but we sucked it up and got it done...Aren't you guys glad you did it, I know I am.

Priscilla is a cute and loveable little worry bug, always wanting to make sure everything is perfect and Chris is just the cool, calm, collective dude who loves his little worry bug and calms her down. Chris is the man, when Priscilla was heading to the states for trip with the girls Chris came to meet up with me at starbucks where we sat and talked for a good hour while I watched hip sip on his strawberry vivano smoothie and discussed the film "One Week" amongst other things. It was awesome.

This location was super awesome for black and whites, especially considering it was a very grey day, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE black and white photography :) It makes me happy.

You guys make for such an adorable couple...a perfect match for each other and I can't wait to document your special day...Just remember what you learned at the shoot... Relax and have fun. :)

enjoy

Fulfilling Your Dreams + Living | Kayla De Brito

I hate when I haven't blogged in a while, simply because I feel as if I have so much to say and I just haven't found the opportunity to send my message to my readers...

My blog is designed to express who Julian Moniz is, Through what I photograph and through my experiences.  It is not just a portfolio of my work but also a semi-personal journal of my life...Blogging is so much fun to me, you can also check out my mini feeds from my facebook page or my twitter so feel free to add me or follow me :)

I read this quote and it truly inspired me..."The possibility of fulfilling a dream is what makes life interesting."

... Just think about that...You have a dream, a vision of what you want out of life or who you want to become.  So what do you do?  Do you sit around and settle, hoping that it will knock on your door???  NO, you get off your butt and you attempt to fulfill your dreams and goals and you don't let anything or anyone stand in your way!  LIFE is FULL of challenges (ones you should never back down from) lessons to learn, blood, sweat, pain and tears.  But it is also full of laughs, love, success, praise, gratitude, beautiful moments and tears of absolute joy.  Becoming aware of all of these is what living is all about...Life is a journey, with no guaranteed place of arrival.  The ups and downs and the winding roads are part of the excitement that is life....So go all out, and LIVE...fulfill your dreams and do what you want to do...Take advantage of opportunities, enjoy it and learn from it.  REMEMBER, the results completely depend on YOU!!!  You are in total control of your life.  You have the ability to create who you want to be, so start creating!

"LIFE IS NOT ABOUT FINDING YOURSELF, IT'S ABOUT CREATING YOURSELF."
Strive to achieve your dreams & I promise Life will be very very interesting.

I'm mixing this post with some photos for a beautiful young lady I photographed.  Kayla De Brito...A Portuguese singer who entered a contest and WON!!!  Her prize...A record, fully produced.  So she asked me to photograph her for her album...I thought it would be awesome to help her out and here are a few of my faves...Congrats Kayla, I know you will be GREAT!

Toronto Engagement Photos - Melissa & Bryan - E session

Melissa & Bryan...

What an awesome time we had in the POURING rain...The shoot started off perfectly in front of the elementary school they attended together...I had to get them to warm up a bit in front of my lens but they eventually cracked and loosened up.

Right when we were at our final location...the rain started to POUR.  And to top it off we were right next to the road and as cars drove by we got soaked thanks to the puddle right next to us.

Mel & Bryan I hope you had an awesome experience...I can't wait until your big day :)))

Toronto DJ + Toronto Photographer Team Up - Both Destination Bound | Joe Ghost

First, allow me to say how awesome I feel right now.  I just got word that I won a contest for a photo I entered into the Totally Rad Dirty Pictures contest (click the link to check out the entry).  I am extremely pumped because it is the first photo contest I submitted something to and the first one I won.  :))))  Totally Rad is so Awesome.  I won a $250 gift card to Apple and the privilege of being featured on their blog.

And now Ladies & Gentlemen, Joe Ghost.  The Toronto Native DJ is looking to take the world by storm with his latest project.  The man has some serious talent.  Check out Joe Ghost's Website to see and hear what he has going on.

I love this guy, when we met up to talk about his vision for the shoot I shot some ideas his way and we just connected on the exact same wave length...Once we got on location he Rocked it and we had a blast.  We shot in 3 different locations, each one with a particular image in mind to reflect his brand and how he wants himself to be perceived.

The photos were taken for his Electronic Press Kit, His website re-launch and upcoming releases So stay tuned for the latest on Joe Ghost...

Ghost...I hope you like the pics and I look forward to working with you in the near future my man...

I was going for some Vintage, timeless looks with this project...here are a few of my faves...

Enjoy
