So as I was going through my 2009 images, I realized just how grateful I am to have had such awesome people to work with this past year. You all truly hold a special place in my heart, believe me!
I also realized how super excited I am for what 2010 has in store...Lot's of travelling, more beautiful and interesting clients, Photography excursions, personal excursions, workshops WHO KNOWS...but I do know how absolutely thrilled I am...Nervous? Yes!!! But I can't wait to see and experience what will happen.
This past year has been full of business challenges that I have overcome and 2010 will be no different...I owe a lot of my success this year to my father, Bert Moniz. My father has gone above and beyond for me and I am so incredibly thankful to have you in my life. I love you and thank you for teaching me the ropes but giving me the ability to create my own destiny.
2010 will be full of challenges, unexpected adventures, spontaneous journeys and I plan on conquering all of it. I can't wait. My only advice to you is STAY TUNED...This blog is going to get really, REALLY EXCITING!!!
As a celebration of my past year as a photographer I put together a wedding slideshow of just a few of my favourite images and if you have followed my blog since the beginning, you would know that I originally had the song "Clarity" by John Mayer up as soon as you loaded the page. So this is a tribute to my beginning and a toast to my future...up to now my life has been full of surprises and some emptiness but after this year I feel like my life is JUST beginning and I can't wait to see what's is in store...good or bad, bring it on.
Enjoy the slideshow

Let's put an end to abuse...
Not to long ago I was asked to photograph a fundraiser in March of 2010. This fundraiser is inspired by an incredible foundation called BOOST. Boost focuses on the prevention and intervention of child abuse. Please visit <http://www.boostforkids.org/> for further details and info on the organization and supporting the Butterfly Foundation. Also, feel free to follow them on twitter
The fundraiser is being hosted by my friend Amanda Badiali and her friend Sagita Zeqo. God bless the two of you for supporting this cause. I know that the fundraiser will be a huge success because I know just how much it means to you.
Amanda holds this organization very close to her heart and she has been an active volunteer for over 4 years now. This foundation is set up to give support to children who have gone through abuse, provide counselling for those who have witnessed the abuse, provide a safe house for those escaping their situation, to hold workshops to educate children, parents and teachers alike on preventative means and triggers of abuse, and the biggest focus is Camp Butterfly: the Boost summer day camp for children.
When I met Amanda I immediately saw a young woman who had a strong will to fight for something she believes in. I could vividly see how much she cared about this organization and for everything else she does in her life. She is a very passionate and independent soul who I envy for all her strength, courage and generosity.
When she told me why she was involved in this organization I was able to see her pain, but I could also see how strong she was for overcoming it. Rather than holding her story back she openly told me what she had gone through and because of her ability to open up, I was able to relate to her passion for something she believed in, which brought so much more meaning to it for me. Amanda's goal is "to give hope; be the voice of someone suffering in silence.... perhaps because they dont know where they can turn to, or are just too afraid." she has experienced the fear, and has lived in the silence. One person can make a difference and she wants to be that person.
Amanda, I am thankful to have met such an awesome and caring person...You're amazing and you have been placed on this Earth to make a difference. I am THRILLED to be a part of this incredible fundraiser and I hope you will all be there in March to support BOOST.
We did a pre-shoot for the fundraiser, something to put on the flyers and posters. Re-telling Amanda's story, which she says was "hard to watch, but so beautiful to reflect on." A warm thank you goes out to Daria Vodova & Anthony Ferraro, the amazing models. You guys ROCKED it!!! I know you made Amanda & I very proud. You took that freezing cold weather like CHAMPS!
A little quote from Amanda's blog
"I am here to be me
For better or worse.
An attitude, an insight,
A blessing or a curse."

The Photographer is Photographed!
So sometimes it's nice to be in front of the camera for a change. My good friend and fellow photographer Mark Pagliaroli of "picture me perfect"got together to hang out at his new studio which is awesome!!! I'm definitely going to be hanging out there a whole lot more, that's right Mark!
We decided to do each other a favour and photograph each other for a change, which was pretty wild. Mark is also a director and a film maker and his new movie "Genesis" is set to release January 10, 2010. So if your interested in coming to the premiere contact me. I will be there :)
Before my photography days I wanted to be an actor and I joined forces with Mark and "Reel Film Pictures" which is Mark's company and we put together a few films. Maybe one day I'll ask Mark to lend me a trailer for a movie I was in and I will put it up on the blog.
Those days are done, and being behind the camera is my one true passion now. I can't get over how much I love it and each day that passes I keep wanting to learn more and more and if I could I would shoot every single day. It's a blessing to be doing what I am doing and making so many people happy while photographing their true beauty, regardless of the type of shoot.
If you love something, go for it. Don't let anybody stop you from truly being happy. Ya, it might be hard at first because your making so many sacrifices, but I promise you that if you put all you got into going for your dreams and you do it with passion and true emotion then you will be happy and that is all that matters in the end.
Here are a few pics from the shoot. Thanks Mark, I love you buddy!
